Modern Living in the Muthgasse Student Residence
BOKU students take note! This student residence, which was opened in October 2015, lies right next to the BOKU site on Muthgasse. Just a short walk away is the Heiligenstadt underground stop, via which other universities and the centre of Vienna can be reached quickly with the U4!
The student residence offers space for 302 students. Besides the building’s modern equipment, the residence’s own garden and communal rooms are particularly impressive: a spacious party room, a gym, music practice rooms and a study area are available alongside communal rooms with a balcony on every floor. Rooms & Prices
At the Muthgasse residence, there are single rooms with a bathroom, anteroom and private kitchenette (approx. 20m² large) as well as residential units with two single rooms (approx. 14 m²), which share a bathroom and anteroom with a kitchenette.
The rooms are fully furnished, feature modern equipment and offer:
- Plenty of well-planned storage space (cupboard, sideboard, bookshelf, bed stead, cabinet on wheels)
- Internet (LAN and W-LAN) and TV connections
- The bathroom is equipped with a sink, shower and WC
- The kitchenette offers everything you need in a compact form: sink, ceramic hob with two burners, microwave, refrigerator, cupboards for crockery and food.
Would you like to conjure up an elaborate 3-course meal and need a little more space than your own four walls to do this? The large kitchen in the communal room offers large hobs and ovens for all of the residents.
There is a laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers in the basement of the building.
Location
The student residence is located in the immediate vicinity of the BOKU site on Muthgasse. The U4 stop Heiligenstadt is just a few minutes away on foot, allowing you to reach all universities and the city centre quickly and easily. Various local businesses are available in the immediate vicinity. One block away lies the Donaukanal (Danube Canal), the banks of which are used as a cycle path into the centre or as a popular area for all exercise fans. Sporty types will find a reward around 4 km along: in the little places at the summer stage on the Donaukanal.
The Viennese vineyards are also nearby, with Kahlenberg and Leopoldsberg inviting you to go for a stroll, as well as visit the ‘Heuriger’ wine taverns - these are typical of Vienna and should be visited by everyone at least once!

Leisure Activities
Your own room is perfect for learning in peace and having some time to yourself. Anyone who wants to clear their head and make new contacts will find sufficient opportunities in the building:
- A spacious party room with its own bar, lighting and sound system
- A study room on the ground floor
- A large gym
- Three music practice rooms
- A communal room on every floor with a balcony, large kitchen, recreation area and cosy seating areas to dine, watch TV or simply chat together.
- An extensive garden to get some fresh air
Bicycles can be stored securely for free in the large bike room on the ground floor. There are parking spaces in the residence’s own underground garage available for cars for a fee.
